The Watchmen's Anointing

The Holy Spirit is divinely setting men and women as Watchmen on the walls of cities, communities, regions and whole nations across the earth (Isa. 62:6-7). One of the primary understandings of the role the Watchmen is grasping the reality that these individuals are often under a heavenly assignment or “prophetic task” from the Lord. The Watchmen must stand in the place of intercession to see and hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Another important task of the Watchmen is to sound the alarm whenever he sees the threat of an enemy encroaching the land.

Ezekiel was appointed by the Lord as one such Watchmen (Ezekiel 33:1-9). He was appointed by God to warn Israel of their sins. If he failed to warn them, the blood would be on his hands. However, if he warned the people and they failed to heed his warning then the blood would be on their hands.  

It takes an incredible amount of clarity and precision to trumpet the judgments and warnings of the Lord. I’m still learning this myself. I believe the anointing “to see” and “to blow” are gained after years of careful stewardship over God’s decrees and verdicts. God anoints us as we are continually obedient to our call and assignment. As part of the Moravian Watch we are called to hear and adhere to the Lord’s decrees.

Prayer: Father, anoint my eyes and ears to see and hear your rulings over that which you’ve given me influence over and deliver me from the fear of men that I might be your faithful messenger. Teach me to declare Your truth without reservation in Jesus name!

Shining as Sons and Daughters

All creation is groaning.  We see the effects of it in the aches and pain all around us.  Romans 8:19-22 says that all of creation is earnestly longing for the revealing of the sons of God.  This revealing speaks to a showing forth and a making evident of Christ in us, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27), to the world.  Although we became sons of God when we were born again, the planet aches for the outward expression of what we know is already our inward positional reality, and it simply starts with a willing heart.  

The world has never been changed by people who pray, "Oh God, change my nation through someone else!"  Our identification as sons - heirs of God (Romans 8:17) and co-laborers with Christ (1 Corinthians 3:9) - gives us the privilege to answer the ache of mankind in an expressed way.  Esther almost missed this privilege.  Mordecai challenged her belief that she could pray while denying her God-given assignment in the answer.  "Who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14) Esther answered the call.  The intercession she made as she fasted and prayed for 3 days compelled her to risky action that ended up saving the Jewish nation.  Her intercession in secret became a powerful weapon when married to her willingness to be one that God could use to bring forth justice.  May we be such a people.  

Scripture: “You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Prayer: God, I come with a willing heart.  I pray that you would move powerfully in my church, school, workplace, city (go ahead and list them out).  I make myself available for your purposes, to pray your heart, to decree your Word in intercession, and to carry that burning heart wherever I go.  Here I am, send me!  Baptize your people in holy fire and boldness to let our light shine brightly in our world for the glory of Your name! Praying from Heaven

Colossians 3:2 encourages us, “to set our affections on things above not on thing below.” This is a critical fundamental of prayer. Many of the enemy’s tactics are tied to his anticipation that we will engage intercession from an earthly posture and mindset. Remember our weapon is not against flesh and blood (Eph. 6:12). We need to contend from the high place. In the book of Revelation, chapter 4, we are given a stunning glimpse of a heavenly realm that demons aren’t privy to. This is the realm where all attention and focus are ascribed to the Father and the Lamb on the Throne. Beloved, this is above the earthly warfare and this is where our authority in prayer comes from. We are given a permanent advantage, the winning edge, so to speak in prayer.  Viewing Jesus’ terrifying beauty and adhering to His decrees from this realm allows us to obliterate every hindering foe. Spirits of darkness cannot stand up against those who are standing in the light of the revelation of the beauty of the Son.  

As we contend in the night, may we find ourselves at attention as we gaze upon the lamb in the middle of the throne.  As we fight for the breakthrough of His promises to manifest in the earth, may it be done with emotions and affections in full alignment with who He is and what he’s done as the suffering lamb. Our victory lies in the fullness of His power working in us as we pray from this heavenly place.

Scripture: “After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.’” Rev. 4:1

 Prayer: Father, I give you my thoughts and my emotions. Lord, I look for the ladder of the Holy Spirit to take me up above the warfare and distraction.

Assuming Our Heavenly Ministry

There are many vocations in the kingdom. There even exist the five-fold governing gifts that Jesus gave to the Church (Eph. 4:13), but none perhaps is more valuable than that of the intercessor. The call to prayer is arguably the highest vocation in heaven and earth. Ministering to the heart of the King of the Universe is the utmost privilege in all the kingdom. Whether one feels called to be a fireman, policeman, doctor or even an at-home mom, none of these vocations can be done successfully without prayer. On the contrary, with prayer, every one of these vocations will be enhanced and done more effectively.  Our priestly ministry to the Lord is where we gain identity, affirmation, value and worth. 

As those called to guard the night, we must arm ourselves with the supreme revelation that we are “God’s Priests” in the earth. Revelation 5:8 declares, “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth, (Rev.5:8, KJV). An earlier passage declares that it was because of Christ’s love for us that He released us from our sins by His blood and therefore has made us “Kings and priests”.  Intercession and worship go hand and hand just as worship and missions are inseparable. It was John Piper who said, “Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn’t. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, missions will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever.”

Prayer: Oh God, as we stand in intercession Father, baptize us afresh with Your love. Wash us with Your blood and mercy. By Your power, strengthen us to stand in the gap for the raising up of an entire army of intercessors who will assume their priestly ministry before Your throne. We declare that sons and daughters are being raised up who love the altar before Your throne. We pray that the fire on the altar never goes out. May our mission be to worship You as an offering of incense day and night; and night and day.

Contending for America

“Afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh, Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Let My people go." Exodus 5:1

Moses' extended conflict with Pharaoh should serve as a model that victory rarely, if ever, comes after just one confrontation with the enemy. Moses' battle is similar to ours in that he was engaged in a conflict for his nation, just as we are engaged in a conflict for our nation. Moses was steadfast in his resolve on behalf of Jehovah against Pharaoh; “Let my people go!” Eventually, victory came and a whole nation was saved. And such will be the case for America as His Church remains faithful to the call and steadfast against Satan. Let's remember the word that God gave Reinhard Bonnke; “All America will be saved.”  
 
As we pray for our nation, know that God is in control and that His government is being released through our prayers. America shall fulfill her destiny in God.
 
Prayer: Lord, we bind the forces of the enemy over our cities and nation. We bind the spirit of deception over America and loose the spirit of truth.  We bind the spirit of hate, division and lawlessness over our cities and release the Kingdom of God in power. We pray for the greatest awakening this nation has ever seen. In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.

The Power of Rehearsing

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11a

Feeling tired or discouraged in your prayers? It may be time for a rehearsal.

In Israel’s history, we see a pattern so familiar to times in our own walk of faith. We see God meet the desperate cry of His people with an outstretched arm in the form of signs, wonders and mighty deliverance. In their awestruck wonder, Israel built monuments so that for generations to come, these stories would stay alive as reminders of God’s faithfulness.

Little by little though, the reality of those miracles faded on the consciousness of God’s people. They forgot their story. But more than that, they forgot what those stories told them about their Mighty God. Without fail, their hearts would become discouraged and they’d find themselves giving room to the enemy where they had once stood their ground.

Not so with us. With the power of the blood and testimony on our lips, we can defy the paralysis of discouragement and wage war as overcomers in the authority of Christ.

Let’s rehearse the testimony of who God has shown Himself to be in His Word. Let’s celebrate the display of His faithfulness in our lives and in the lives of people around us. He has done great things and He will do it again.

Prayer:

God, I choose today to rehearse the stories of Your faithfulness. May we be a people who contend with the sword of the Lord in our hands and high praise in our mouths (Psalms 149:6)! May we carry the stories of a split Red Sea even as we circle the Jericho walls of our time. You are faithful, and Your Word will not return to You void!

Guarding the Night in Prayer

Matthew 24:43 states, “But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.”

In this parable, scripture gives account of a significantly exposed area within the house of God. It speaks of the dreadful reality of unpreparedness in the body of Christ during an ill-afford and critical time. No one will deny the effects the day and night prayer movement is making in the earth. It’s the prayers of the saints that are contributing to the extraordinary increase of harvest around the globe. Undeniably, most have attributed this feat because of the prayers that is taking place during the day.

For centuries, one could conclude that the Achilles heel in prayer has been the night watch. If there is a weak link where the enemy could potentially gain a foothold into the affairs of the church, it could happen because of a careless and prayerless Church failing to govern the night. John 10:10 states, “The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy.” Nothing good happens as the result of a robbery. The Church mustn’t only guard the house in the night, but also rob the thief and plunder his goods.

Prayer: Father we pray for a watchmen’s anointing to guard the night in prayer. May the age-old gap that disconnects successive prayer from being just as strong in the night as it is in the day be closed in Jesus name. We ask you to raise up an army of intercessors in the night. We pray for the Church of America to be fully furnished with watchmen in every city and state in America. Lord, use the [M]Watch.
